Corton
Origin
Corton, Burgundy region of France
Features
This stone is also known as the “Emperor’s stone,”
a reference to fact that Emperor Charlemagne’s vineyards once
overhung the limestone formations from which such stone is taken.
The burgundy veining so characteristic of Corton results from the
seepage over time into the caramel-coloured stone of fluid from
fallen grapes, mixed with rainwater. This stone is for indoor and
outdoor use.
